Hi All! One last birthday for this month of August! Here's another birthday card I made for a dear friend of the family.
I used Crafter's Companion Bebunni Hip Hip Hooray. I colored the bunny with W0, W1 and W3, with the pinkish ears using RV000 and RV00. I used scrap Confetti Wishes paper to put over the word Birthday, and cut up the borders from Confetti Wishes paper to and scattered the sentiments all over the image. I used Prismacolor pencils to form the warm gray shadows around the bunny.
Happy Happy Birthday to our dear friend! Hope you like it!

Happy Birthday Bubblegum Paper!
It's my crafting friend Bubblegum Paper's birthday today and since we haven't had the chance to get together yet, here's a card I made to celebrate her birthday!
I used Close to My Heart's Confetti Wishes paper again, paired with La-La Land's Heart Balloon Marci. If you've been following my blog you know I'm on a Confetti Wishes 'rampage' the past week. I just love how cheerful this paper pack is!
Balloon and Yellow Accent on Dress - Y21, Y23, Y26
Dress, Headband and Shoes - V04, V05, V06, V09
Skin - E0000, E00, E01
Hair - E33, E37, E39
The circle in the background was cut using MFT Pierced Circle Die-namics and I sponged it with some Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet distress ink. Both the gift and balloon were topped with liquid gloss. And just to add some zing to it, I brushed the headband with clear Zig Wink of Stella. I just love how it sparkles!

Birthday Greetings
Hello Everyone! August birthdays are still happening and here's another card I made for a dear co-worker of mine. I'm sticking with the Confetti Wishes paper theme from Close to My Heart. The paper retires next month unfortunately. I love how alive and colorful this paper is, so here I'm am trying to make as many birthday themed cards I can with it. The stamp I used for the cake is Build A Cake, also from Close to My Heart. The sentiment was stamped from a retired stamp, and I embellished with Flaxen Extra Thick Twine. I love this twine. I've used a handful of other kinds but find the extra thickness of CTMH's particularly better, and it holds better after tying, rather than the thin flimsy ones that just looks flat after.
It's a very simple card, but I wanted to highlight the glitter effect on the cake. I used some glitter powder from The Rubber Cafe which I got at the last Scrapbook Expo. I used The Rubber Cafe's Scrap Happy Glue just like they demo'd at the show floor. It comes out pretty nice, I love how sparkly the cake looks. The glue was great, I just did not like the extra step of having to wash out my stamps in soap and water afterwards. And warning, it does get sticky on the hands. This glue gets really sticky.
So here's the stamp set I used.
And here's what the Confetti paper pack looks like. Hurry if you still want to get your hands on this paper!
Happy Birthday to you my good friend!

Get Organized
Close to My Heart's August Constant Campaign is all about getting organized. I am so happy they came out with a Marker Roll Up and an Accessory Roll Up too. I am so excited to be taking this Marker Roll up with me to a crop retreat soon. I love the fabric, the design, and the colors too! I love how compact it rolls up to, and how it helps your markers stay organized even as you travel.
This August, get a Marker Roll Up and get a Balloon Wishes stamp set for free!
I got my Accessory Roll Up today and am so happy to finally have my embellishments organized. It used to just be stored in a Snapware container, all piled on top of each other. But now with this Accessory Roll Up, I can see each and every embellies I have!
I love the jean-style fabric! It's casual and sturdy and know it's built for wear and tear. Zipper's pretty strong too as I've zipped and unzipped multiple times while organizing. And I also got 2 sheets of Base and Bling stickers with this purchase!
Now I'm not much into Base & Bling but have on occasion tried a couple of bracelets and necklaces as gifts. However, this new design is just too pretty and the possibilities are endless! I'd have to get myself some silver chains and charms to make more necklaces! Or, I could use it as stickies for my EC planner too!
Here's the stamp set you get for purchasing the Marker Roll Up. I haven't had the time to organize my ShinHans yet, nor try the Copics yet with this Roll Up. Once I get to it I will post pictures too. But you can never go wrong. These Roll Ups are so great!!!! Gets yours here now!!

August Birthdays
This month of August is full of birthdays for me. I have 4 dear friends who are celebrating their birthdays almost back to back. Given my rate lately of creating cards, I'm a bit overwhelmed now. But here's one I made using La-La Land's Sugar n Spice Marci. I embellished with Flag Banner Die.
Skin - E000, E00, E01
Hair - E51, E53, E55
Cupcake - E70, E71, E74
Topping - Y00, Y02, Y04
Spoon - C1, C3
Headband, Heart, Shoes - RV11, RV13, RV17, RV19
I used papers by Close to My Heart. They're from the Confetti Wishes paper pack, which will go away pretty soon (end of August), as soon as the new Annual Inspirations book go live. Here's what the paper pack includes. I love these papers, each one of the birthday themed. The colors are stunning as they pop, they look and spell so much fun!
Happy Birthday to my friends celebrating their birthday this month!

La-La Land July Kit
I can't believe it's August and summer's almost over! I don't even know where time went, or what this summer's all about. But before it ends, I'd like to share a card I made that celebrates the season. Strawberries!!! I love La-La Land's July kit of the month. July features Marci w/ Strawberries. I love how cute Marci is!
I used Close to My Heart's Taste of Summer paper as background, and also Marci's dress and Hat. I love how everything coordinates! I'm fresh off color pencils for now and did not feel like coloring with markers just yet. I thought doing Marci's dress in pattern paper is so much easier for this project.
Hair - E30, E31, E35
Strawberries - R22, R24, R29
Basket - E34, E25
Skin - E000, E01, E02
I added some Wink of Stella White on the strawberries to better pronounce the seeds, and of course, you can never have too much glitter right? I love all the dies that came with this kit. Love how the strawberries look like! And the paper! I knew I'd find some use to these papers one day! :)
So here's what the La-La Land July Kit of the Month includes. If you ask me this is by far the most bang for your buck kit out there. Look at all the goodies you get! And even though this is only my 4th kit, I can honestly say La-La dies are the best! They're also so versatile you can keep using them for your other projects.

Battle of the Color Pencils
Hi everyone! So last week I posted the Hydrangea Fairy that I colored using Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils. Since it was my first attempt, I realized as I colored along the way that there were some things I'd like to do over. Being the perfectionist that I am, I went back and tried to improve upon it. This time I used Prismacolor Premier Pencils. I tried to shoot 2 birds with one stone, thinking I'd improve my coloring skills and at the same time try what's the difference between Spectrum Noir and Prismacolor.
Before I go into detail, here's my finished image using Prismacolor.
Skin - White, Eggshell, light Peach, Peach, Burnt Ochre, Dark Brown
Hair - Sand, Light Umber
Dress - Lilac, Blue Lake, Imperial Violet
Wings - Lavender, Lilac
Flowers - Lemon Yellow, Lilac, Blue Lake, Imperial Violet
Leaves - Yellow Chartreuse, True Green, Prussian Green, Grass Green
Sky - Black, Indigo Blue, Peacock Blue, Powder Blue - Gamsol
Water Puddles and Ground - Indigo Blue, Indanthrone Blue, Powder Blue, Slate Gray
This is my comparison image.
I improved upon the wings, and I thought I'd improve upon the flowers, but that's still up for debate. I thought I'd also try to improve on the sky, but halfway through it, I figured I'm doomed again. Man coloring that background sky is HARD!!! And the puddles, they sure are hard to draw and much harder to color. So I will leave it up to you to comment, and let me know which version you like better.
So, having used both pencils, here are some of my observations:
1.) Spectrum Noir pencils break easily. I know it's half wax and half oil and shouldn't break easily, but mine did, on A LOT of them. Which makes me sad given you can't buy them in singles - at least not yet.
2.) Spectrum Noir takes more effort to blend, but you get more control out of it.
3.) Prismacolor pencils are way more vibrant. A little goes a long way.
4.) Prismacolor's wax based core makes it easier to blend, but harder to control. Too much color, too waxy, and next thing you know you've put down way too much color.
5.) Prismacolor needs to be sharpened more often.
6.) Prismacolor - I never had a pencil that broke on me while doing the entire image. But since it's waxy, I feel like I've used more than I should, especially during burnishing, so at the end I kinda lost a good amount of pencil (especially with Imperial Violet since I used that the most).
Overall, I think both brands are great. Color wise I'd say nothing beats Prismacolor. As you can see, just from the sky alone, the vibrancy is so obvious. I wouldn't rule out Spectrum Noir though. It's not bad, and maybe an expert colorist who knows what they're doing can actually try to give Prismacolor a run of it's money. If you ask me though, I think I will continue to use Prismacolor, at least until Spectrum Noir starts selling their pencils in singles. Coz if not, I sure am not going to spend on a whole set just to get 1 or 2 to refill.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Would love to hear from you! Thanks for visiting!
