September Stamp of the Month

This month's stamp of the month is focused on Family, and the images are fitting for making scrapbook pages. However since I do not have the time for that, I made a quick card instead.

I embossed the background paper using Cricut Cuttlebug, and colored them using Faber Castell Gelatos. I love my Gelatos and I love this technique. I spritzed enough water and rubbed them to sort of blend the colors subtlety but making sure the distinction is still there. I stamped the word "Love" and cut each letters. I wanted it to be the focus of the card, and love how bold the letters seem to be in rich black ink. I stamped the heart image using Indian Corn Blue color. I really love how it stands out.

August - Chalk It Up Workshop

I am so excited to finally finish my projects for this month's card workshop! I am using Chalk It Up and made 3 cards using that paper. I also made a 4th card exclusively using this month's Stamp of the Month - What A Hoot.

This card uses the new stamp set Teacher Appreciation, teal shimmer trim, white enamel stars and the new black stripe twill ribbon.

This is a 5x7 card using the new stamp set Great Job. I colored the image using ShinHan markers and cut out some of the stars and mounted it using foam tape. The background is one of many designs from Chalk It Up Picture My Life kit.

This card requires no stamping at all. It highlights another design from the Chalk It Up Picture My Life set and simply embellished with the new black striped twill ribbon. I really really love this ribbon. It looks so classy!!

And last but not the least, a chevron themed card featuring this month's SOTM - What A Hoot. I used the black paper fundamentals chevron design, layered it with chevron embossed paper, and decorated the card using most of the images from the stamp set. I colored using ShinHan, and sponged the sentiment with a mix of orange and black inks.

What A Hoot!

This month's stamp of the month features this cute looking build-an-owl kind of image. Here's my take on it. I started out as aiming for a black and white monochromatic look, then along the way decided to play with my new ShinHan markers, so here's the finished product.

I used black chevron patter Paper Fundamentals for the base, and just stamped the image in plain white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment using Gypsy ink, then colored it in a bit with this ShinHan Peony Purple marker.

August Birthdhays

I have a couple of friends whose birthdays happen to be in August and thought I'd make their birthday cards in advance.

I used The Stamps of Life's stamp of the month for this card below and DCWV birthday paper pack. It's so simple yet the big candles sure do make a statement!

This card below also uses DCWV birthday paper, and I embossed the Cricut Happy Birthday folder to add some design and texture. The balloons were cut using Cricut's Birthday Bash cartridge.

Picture My Life Cards

I am a big fan of Picture My Life. I've been using it to create quick albums, especially those where I have hundreds of pictures for an event. But after attending Close to My Heart's 2014 Convention though, I saw how PML can also be used to make quick cards, My Crush books

So here's my take on creating cards using PML. And this is also probably my last hoorah for Spring/Summer Catalog as we'll be launching the new one come August 1st.

First up is a card from Avonlea Picture My Life kit. I used Cocoa cardstock as the base, then layered it with a 4x6 PML card, then layered it again with 3x4 card which I punched at the top to make it look like a tag. I used Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon as the tie.  No stamping on this one!

Next I used a card from Skylark PML kit. All the other materials are scraps I have from Skylark WOTG. I also used the stamp set from the kit. This has been a favorite of many but I must confess I think I used this the least.

Below I used Balloon Ride paper as base, then layered it with Balloon Ride PML. I love Balloon Ride, from the paper pack to the PML designs, it's so shabby chic!! I used this month's Stamp of the Month Circus Alphabet to stamp the word "smile" and embellished with the durable triangle studs.

And last but not the least, a Chantilly PML. The paper and cardstock are from the Lollydoodle WOTG kit I have and I stamp the pair of owls from the Owl set. The "giggle, sing, dance" are from the Chantilly PML too, I just cut one of those and used it to add dimension to my card. I wanted to create a light, fun themed card for a change.

Apple Of My Eye

May's almost over and I haven't created much this week due to work. I feel like I've been away from all of my crafting stuff for what seems like forever. Since we only have a few more days before May is officially over, especially with Memorial Day weekend coming up, I thought I'd give the Free To Be Me paper collection and this month's Stamp of the Month another whim. 

Pretty simple and easy to put together, all papers are from the Free To Be Me constant campaign collection, and I stamped the sentiment from this month's Stamp of the Month. Final embellishments I used Triangle Studs in antique. And the ink I used is Indian Corn Blue.

I love this month's Stamp of the Month. Every sentiment is so cute, and versatile that you can use it for anything and everything! If I do find some more time, I'm hoping to create more using it, but even if not, this is one stamp set I'd be keeping for a long long time!

You've Got A Friend!

I finally got my CTMH order and I can't wait to use this month's SOTM (Stamp of the Month). I made this card using Ivy Lane Cardmaking Kit. My base layer cardstock uses the Cocoa paper, then I layered it using one of the B&T papers. I cut 3.25" circle on both and used the other side of the B&T paper to fill in the whole. I wanted to show the nice contrast and feature Ivy Lane's design. I then striped the top paper design and made it into like a ribbon. But instead of wasting a whole strip I just cut small pieces to fit the top and bottom.

I stamped the sentiment "You've Got A Friend" in Chocolate ink onto Colonial White cardstock and embellished the 4 corners with the accessories that came with the kit. The kit also comes with a gold shimmer trim which I punched using a regular puncher. I then used the small circles to adorn the outside of the circle. I guess I wanted to give the sentiment a better highlight. You can't see it much from the frontal shot so I took a closer shot at it. It looks much better in person since you can see the glitter more. Unfortunately the gold shimmer trim only comes with the Ivy Lane Cardmaking Kit. How I wish I could purchase it separately!

PB & J Birthday

I've been so busy at work lately and crafting has taken a back seat the past week. I sit in my craft area every night thinking making a card will somehow take the stress away, but unfortunately being so drained and stressed from work somehow nipped my creativity pool as I couldn't come up with anything at all. Well it's the weekend and I'm glad I at least was able to make something. I'm using the morepb&j2stamp from The Stamps of Life and making another PB&J card.

I couldn't find a plug sign stamp so I just substituted with a heart instead. The jelly was stamped using Hero Arts Mid Tone Shadow Ink in Raspberry Jam, the blue label using Close To My Heart's Sky ink, the peanut butter cap was stamped using Hero Arts Red Royal Shadow Ink, body using CTMH Desert Sand, yellow bottle label using CTMH Buttercup. I love these ink colors!

Balloon Talk

Welcome! Today's post features this month's SOTM Balloon Talk.

For this card I used Paper Fundamentals Assortment as my background paper. I stamped the boy with the kite using Windy Day, and colored them using Spectrum Noir markers. I added a couple more tiny flowers at the bottom from the Around The Block (retired) stamp set. I stamped the sentiment "happy" using Black ink. I also used the "awesomeness" sentiment that's part of this month's SOTM and cut it out to remove the call out arrow. I made it a perfect rectangle so it becomes the 'title' of my card. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Hello Wonderful..Happy Place

This month's stamp of the month is Happy Place. I just love this stamp set! Isn't it just adorable? Add to that I love coloring! I will be honest, it took awhile to color it, but maybe because I was coloring multiple images at the same time. I stamped different images and tried different colors until I found the one I liked.

I could have probably made 4 cards out of the images I stamped but for now, here are the 2 cards I made. Note that this is my first time to actually stitch on a card. I just got my stitch guide last week and I'm using it for the first time. Boy was it a challenge! Maybe I will get better if I do it more often. But it sure did take up as much time as it did coloring to get the stitches in, and it's not perfect. For that I apologize.

For my first card I used retired paper Claire on a Recollections tan cardstock. I stamped the Russian doll image and colored it using my Spectrum Noir markers. I used a mix of Pinks, Oranges, Turquoise and Tan markers. Sorry I can't name the specific marker numbers as I was winging it. I was trying to find the right combination of orange and turquoise so  I was experimenting as I color. The sentiment is from the stamp set  Hello Wonderful and is available on my site.

My second card also uses the Claire paper, this time I used the 3 tiny Russian doll images instead. The sentiment came from the same Happy Place stamp set and the whole thing is layered using a Recollections plain purple cardstock. The images were also colored using my Spectrum Noirs.
