It's Halloween!!

Where did the time go? Gosh I can not keep up! I have been busy the last few weeks, (or should I say month) practicing and learning calligraphy and brush lettering. If you check out my Instagram account you'll see I've been actively posting my calligraphy and lettering progress. Because of that I've sort of neglected my card making and coloring projects. Not to mention I'm 2 years behind on scrapbooking! There is just not enough time in this world for all the crafting goodness!

My share today is halloween treat bags I made for my daughter's class. Are you surprised I'm done a week ahead of time? If you follow me the previous years you know I complete this like midnight of Oct 30th. Can you believe this year I'm done? And even made 2 kinds, for students (sans peanuts) and for teachers (generous chocolate treats).

The pumpkin bag and tags are from Cricut's Tags, Boxes and More 2 cartridge. The papers I used are Close to My Heart's Scaredy Cat collection.

The sentiments and stamp images are a mix of Lawn Fawn's Spooktacular and My Favorite Things' Frightfully Fun stamp sets. Yes, I messed up on Frankenstein and Dracula. Apparently I wasn't paying attention when I stamped them. Hopefully the teachers won't mind or notice. :)

I feel like I've accomplished a lot by finishing these way ahead of time. Forgive me, it really is the first time in years I've done this without rushing. It is a big deal for me! :)

Trick or Treat!

Halloween's around the corner, and even though I've made so much Halloween cards already, this Scaredy Cat paper pack just can't keep me away. Seriously, I'm so in love with this! I can't wait for Oct 31st when I can take pictures of my kid and make layouts using this paper pack.

The card base I used was Bazzill, I can't remember the name, Purple Royalty I think. The witch and fence were cut using Cricut Autumn Celebrations cartridge, the bunny was my leftover 2nd piece from the previous card I made. It was from a Lawn Fawn Halloween stamp set. I added in the RIP from the Scaredy Cat complements, and embellished the stars from the Scaredy Cat assortment.

Cricut Explore Test Cuts

Those of you who follow me on Facebook know I recently took the plunge and bought the Cricut Explore. For a week now I've been trying to learn Cricut Design Space, and testing the capabilities of the machine.

I am so in love with it! I also bought the bluetooth adapter, but I'm not sure if it's the adapter's fault or my internet's fault, but connection seems to be intermittent. When it works though I love how hassle free it is without having to move my laptop to be close to the machine then having plugs and cords around me.

So you saw the floral card I just made last week, and this week I tried cutting this Spider web card just to test how intricate it cuts. I didn't get around to decorating it, since I made it too small. I cut it at A2 size (even though recommended is A7) using the new Cricut Artfully Sent cartridge, just so I can test if it can really handle small cuts or if it will tear the web. I swear it did not. And believe it or not, it's a simple as pulling the cardstock off the mat, and it came out all in 1 whole piece. The cuts were precise, clean and it was super fast and easy, painless! I cut a few spiders to go with it, to test if the legs will tear when I take it out, but it did not. I love my new Cricut Explore!

My only regret is not getting the HSN special (Cricut Wild Orchid)!

Hoppy Halloween

I spent part of my day at the Scrapbook Expo today in Ontario and got me some buy 3 get 1 free Lawn Fawn stamps. I've been on the lookout for the Love You Tons die for quite some time now and was so glad to see it was available at the Expo. Part of my purchase was also a Hoppy Halloween mini stamp set. It was too cute to resist!

So I came home and made a quick and simple Halloween card. I know, I can't get enough of this Scaredy Cat paper so I created yet another card with it. This is a 4x4 card, and it was easy to put together. If you follow my blog you know i'm not 100% CTMH purist, so here goes, a card made with CTMH supplies and Lawn Fawn stamp set.

I colored the moon using ShinHan Y49 Pastel Green, Carrot leaves using Z2463 Sap Green and Z2454 Leaf Green, and the bunny cape using Z2453 Lavender and Z2462 Peony Purple. I also added a bit of glitter using Purple Wink of Stella glitter pen. The blank enamel stars are from the Scaredy Cat Assortment. I finished off the card using a black baker's twine.

Hoppy Halloween! Which reminds me, I gotta pick a costume for my little one! Halloween's just a couple of weeks away!

Catching Up on Scrapbooking

Last Saturday I attended The Busy Bee's Falling for Scraps team event by invitation from my good friend Sandie Alford. Her awesome team organized the event and I was very lucky to have participated. We did 7 make and take projects, and I came out inspired, and pumped to actually finish my scrapbook layouts. I had a layout from August that I was not able to finish and was not able to offer together with my card workshop.

Here's my completed August Chalk It Up Scrapbook Layout. I tweaked the design a little bit from the intended Chalk It Up WOTG Scrapbooking kit. I tried to add in more picture slots, because personally I'm the type who wants to load the pages with pictures. I also threw in a Chalk It Up Picture My Life card in there to show just how versatile that kit is. All the cuts used Cricut Artbooking cartridge.

My September Scaredy Cat Scrapbook Layout is inspired by Sandie herself. I added in some borders and embellishments from the August Stamp of the Month What A Hoot. I did the 2nd page and tried to continue on the theme from the 1st. I added in the Dracula image from Creepy Creatures stamp set, just to make it more fun. I gave them a dash of color by using Shin Han Peony Purple and Light Orange markers. I love love this stamp set!! Everything else is cut using Cricut Artbooking cartridge.

I can't wait for Halloween. My daughter wants to be Elsa from Frozen. Probably not fit for this layout but who knows, kids, they always change their minds! :)

Witch Penny Slider Card

I've always wanted to try making a penny slider card and now here's my rendition. What I like about this is it's so easy to make, and in case you didn't notice, I didn't stamp a single thing! The design is an SVG cut from the Silhouette Online store. It is so easy to make though, even without the SVG cut.

This is a 5x7 card. I used Sunset cardstock as base. Then I used scraps to make the moon from my Scaredy Cat Paper Pack, a white cardstock that I sponged Soft Vanilla ink to make a wispy shadow and topped it with Whisper ink to show a grayish fog effect. The rest of it is from the Scaredy Cat Complements pack, and the stars from the Scaredy Cat Assortment pack.

For the partial moon, you'll need to cut the bottom layer a little over 4.1" wide by 3.7" high, and the top layer size is about 1/8" less than the bottom one. Once you've got your pieces cut, draw a curved line and cut. You'll need to line up and layer the 2 B&T papers (after you cut a curved edge) together with the black base, and cut out a "hook" angle so the penny can rest there. Make sure you clip them together so you get a clean cut through. You'll have to take 2 pennies first, mount them together with foam tapes, and use that as your guide to make sure you pennies will easily slide up and down the slot. Make sure the pennies slips through the slot you make. This applies to any penny slider card you make. You measure the distance, depending on how far you want your image or attachment to travel.

Then you can add whatever image you want to the penny, in this case I used the witch from the assortment and embellished as I go. I hope this somehow teaches you how to make your own penny slider card. And if it's too hard, you can always purchase it from the Silhouette Online store.

Scaredy Cat Witch Cottage

I've been procrastinating lately, and this witch's cottage is one of my victims. I've had this sitting out on my table for a couple of weeks now, and just left it out to sit. I have to admit it's not my 100%, but I just want to get it done, and hopefully donate it to my kid's school for decoration.

I used the Scaredy Cat paper pack, for the cottage, and the Halloween Greetings stamp set to cut out the bats, the witch peeking out the window, and the broom parked by the side of the house. I also used the rat from the Creepy Creatures stamp set to add to the chimney. This witch's cottage is a cut file from Silhouette and I used my cameo to cut it.

 

I will most likely still dress up the front of the cottage. For now I placed an orange star as a 'knob' from the Scaredy Cat Assortment.

September - Scaredy Cat Workshop

Halloween is just around the corner and I thought I'd get started on Halloween projects. For this month's workshop, I've created 1 treat box, 2 cards and 1 home decoration item. All of these uses the Scaredy Cat paper pack.

I used 4 stamp sets to create everything in this project. I love all these Halloween themed stamps. I used B1460 Trick or Treat Sweets, D1605 Halloween Greetings, B1453 Frightfully Fun and  C1522 Creepy Creatures.

Sneak Peak on Paper Packs

I attended this year's Close to My Heart Convention in Disneyland but didn't get a chance to really write about it. It was indeed a memorable experience. I learned a lot and met a few friends along the way. It was 3 days of fun filled activities, workshops, seminars, and I sure did pick up a lot.

Part of our workshop is creating these cards that showcased the new papers for the new Annual Inspirations books.

The middle ones are the holiday themed Snowhaven and Yuletide Carol, the left one is Scaredy Cat and the right one uses Pathfinding. I can't wait to create using these papers! Every single collection is just gorgeous!!!
